Maison Boire: Winner of the 2021 Restaurateur Award
The restaurant La Maison Boire, located in Granby, was named the grand winner of the 4th edition of the Aliments du Québec au menu Restaurateur Award during the annual gathering of the Association Restauration Québec (ARQ) on November 16, 2021.
This special award aims to recognize restaurateurs participating in the Aliments du Québec au menu recognition program who stand out through their initiatives and commitment to sourcing, using, and showcasing Quebec food products.
La Maison Boire distinguished itself through its comprehensive and innovative approach, where the environment is at the heart of its gastronomic philosophy. Its creative menu highlights products whose origin is 99% local, organic, and unprocessed foods. Everything found on the table—including the pottery tableware—comes either from nearby producers or directly from their own garden.
Going beyond the restaurant itself, the team is also deeply involved in its community. For example, the Farmers’ Festival they organized this fall helped showcase local farmers and producers to their clientele. From traditional wood-fire cooking methods to their house-made spice blends, their sustainable food approach positions La Maison Boire as agents of change for tomorrow.
“We are very happy to win this award. Seeing that our approach resonates within the restaurant industry is very rewarding. Thank you to the members of the jury,” exclaimed Brian Proulx, co-owner of La Maison Boire.

Two High-Level Finalists
This year, the restaurants La Belle Histoire, located in the Laurentides region, and Labo Culinaire Foodlab followed closely behind the grand winner.
For La Belle Histoire, their contagious passion and their love of Quebec products and producers—reflected both on the plate and in the glass—won over the judges.
As for Labo Culinaire Foodlab, it was the strong presence and exemplary showcasing of local products on their menu, as well as their creativity in using them, that particularly impressed the jury.

Special Mention
The jury also wished to highlight the exceptional work of Au Pâturage — Espace Gourmand, particularly for their involvement in their community to promote and showcase local products through their fish market, greenhouse school, and culinary camps.
They are far more than a restaurant—they are inspiring and creative agents of change.

Selection Criteria and Judges’ Comments
Restaurants in the program were evaluated according to five criteria:
- the share of local products or producers featured on the menu
- the highlighting of local products and producers on the menu, in the dining room, or on the website
- their sourcing methods

The evaluation also included a component of personal appreciation from the judges, whom Aliments du Québec warmly thanks.
