4 Activities to Celebrate Halloween with Québec Flavors
Halloween is shaping up to be festive and proudly local this year! Imagine celebrating the holiday with a fleur-de-lis-themed twist. Don’t panic! There’s no question of putting on a blue wig and wearing a Québec flag as a cape—though the idea is pretty fun!
Here’s our reimagined take on a Halloween with true Québec flair.
Pick your pumpkins straight from the farm
Pumpkin picking is a fall must. Whether you’re a Halloween fan or not, there’s something magical that happens the moment you step into the field. Back home, the contest for the best decoration begins—grab the newspapers and knives, the carving has officially started!
And here, there’s no waste! We carefully save our pumpkin seeds to roast them on a baking sheet in the oven. A classic that never goes out of style, no matter your age! And for those who love a little heat, you’ll definitely enjoy this spicy pumpkin seed recipe!

Enjoy local sweet treats as a family
That hazelnut spread that’s been catching your eye at the grocery store for the past two months? Go ahead—treat yourself and finally put it in your cart! The goal of this activity is to introduce the whole household to new local products while satisfying your sweet tooth properly. Plus, our directory of candies and sweet treats will come in very handy!
How does it work?
Each family member chooses the product they want, then becomes the “host” of their tasting. Once everyone has had their turn, you rank your discoveries by giving them a score out of ten. The owner of the winning favorite gets a prize (or simply the honor of having won). Promise—this new tradition will make a lot of people happy!

Organize a seasonal vegetable scavenger hunt
A little imagination, some coloring pencils, a basket of organic Québec-grown vegetables, and you’re all set! While the kids are searching for the butternut squash under the couch, you can go about your daily routine as if nothing’s happening—doesn’t that sound wonderful?
Before you kick back and relax, though, you’ll need to prepare this famous scavenger hunt.
- Choose your seasonal vegetables. Need inspiration? Here are a few fall harvest ideas: squash, sweet potato, onion, leeks, turnip, garlic;
- Depending on the vegetables you picked, look up a few riddles and fun facts online;
- Finally, hide them all around the house.
Psst… Don’t forget to write down your hiding spots, so you don’t end up discovering a moldy zucchini in the cupboard three weeks from now. Just a little tip—you’ll thank us later!

Cook a delicious Halloween meal with local flavors
Who said Halloween dinner has to mean hot dogs and pizza? The days of the quick-and-easy October 31st supper are over! This year, we’re switching things up and inviting you to try a squash, potato, and sage gratin, created in collaboration with Dash of Honey.
