6 activities to enjoy the colors of fall
Oh, autumn! So poetic with colours stretching as far as the eye can see. If you know how to seize the season, there are plenty of activities to lift our spirits and welcome the colder months ahead. Here are six must-do ideas to make the most of fall.
1. Enjoy the view from a lookout or mountain
What better way to soak up autumn than from a panoramic viewpoint? Across Québec, many places offer exceptional vistas — from the Acropole des Draveurs in Charlevoix to Mount Royal in Montréal or the Music Camp at Lac-Saint-Jean.
Closer to Montréal, a quick trip to Parc des Sept-Chutes in Saint-Zénon offers a breathtaking, colourful panorama.

2. Take a gourmet tour in the Lanaudière region
Fall is the perfect time to meet local producers and artisans — and to taste their creations. On the Goûtez Lanaudière routes you can drive through country roads to visit places like Magasin de l’Abbaye (Abbaye Val Notre-Dame), Cuisine Poirier and Ferme Guy Rivest.
End your tour with a sweetness from local beekeepers such as Miel de Chez-Nous.
3. Pick seasonal squash — especially pumpkins!
October is the prime moment to harvest squash grown in Québec. Many farms, including La Courgerie and Ferme Mathieu Lavoie offer pick-your-own experiences. Pumpkins remain the favourite — perfect for decorating your home or creating Halloween-inspired DIY projects.
4. Prepare for Halloween with family or friends

Whether trick-or-treating with kids, handing out sweets, or hosting a themed party, planning makes everything more fun. Create your own costumes or decorations to impress — or shop locally if time runs short. Crafting together is the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.
5. Visit a zoo or small farm
A trip to a zoo or small farm is another magical fall activity — many orchards also host mini farms. Enjoy colourful scenery and playful encounters with animals. Some locations even add Halloween-themed décor, making it perfect for memorable photos.
6. Celebrate Oktoberfest with Québec beers

Once a traditional German event, Oktoberfest has found its place in Québec culture. With microbreweries across the province, October is ideal for planning a tasting tour. Try local craft beers — including those recognized by Aliments du Québec — and enjoy a festive autumn outing. Don’t forget your scarf and your appetite for fun!
