La Cuisine wins the 2019 Restaurateur Award

Things to Do Featured Restaurant

Congratulations to Restaurant La Cuisine, in Chicoutimi, named the grand winner of the 2019 Aliments du Québec au menu Restaurateur Award during the annual meeting of the Association Restauration Québec (ARQ) on November 20.

This special award was created to recognize restaurants participating in the Aliments du Québec au menu recognition program that stand out through their initiatives and commitment to sourcing, using, and showcasing Quebec food products.

The twenty-three applications received were evaluated according to four criteria:

  • the proportion of Quebec products on the menu
  • the diversity of Quebec products used
  • the Quebec identity reflected in the dishes
  • the promotion of Quebec products on the menu and during service

The evaluation also included the judges’ personal appreciation.

Since 1994, Restaurant La Cuisine has offered authentic and creative market cuisine. Their team prepares everything on-site to provide homemade quality inspired by the seasons, prioritizing fresh regional ingredients.

The restaurant, located in the Saguenay region, does remarkable work showcasing the culinary richness of Quebec and its history. The team is also highly involved in their community, helping promote regional products and encouraging people to buy local.

Two outstanding finalists

Two finalists closely followed the grand winner.

Located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, Restaurant Côté Est stood out for its menu inspired by Quebec cuisine, showcasing the products and producers of its region in an exceptional way.

In Montreal, Restaurant O’Thym also caught the jury’s attention for the innovative solutions it implemented to use Quebec products throughout the year.

 

Special jury mention awarded to La Cage – Brasserie Sportive

The jury also wished to highlight the significant changes made by La Cage – Brasserie sportive in recent years to promote the sourcing of Quebec ingredients.

With 42 establishments across Quebec, La Cage’s efforts could not go unnoticed. The jury unanimously decided to award a special prize recognizing the chain’s commitment to promoting Quebec products on its menu and developing products made locally, which strongly contribute to the local economy..
