The color of maple syrup is determined by its harvest period
It goes without saying that, regardless of its color, maple syrup is always delicious on grandma’s pancakes. However, the color will certainly affect the intensity of the flavor. In other words, the darker the syrup, the stronger its taste, and so on.
There are four main classifications :
- Golden : Its light color gives it a more delicate flavor.
- Amber : The amber hue offers a richer taste.
- Dark : Darker syrup has a more robust, almost caramelized flavor.
- Very Dark : This type of syrup is harvested at the end of the season, giving it a more pronounced flavor than the previous categories.
Indeed, the classifications are determined by the syrup’s color and the time of harvest, as these factors significantly influence its flavor. In any case, each syrup has its own charm and knows how to make itself irresistible !
